This is a request to any of the two or three readers this little blog has. However I will certainly understand if its a task no one wants to help me with. I am trying to compile a database of white supremacist forums, and books written by well known white supremacists that were published this year. And yes this is a part of my ongoing crusade against the Hugo’s.
Given how small in number even this years Worldcon voter pool is, and how large some white supremacists organisations are, it seems to me that if even a few of the larger neo-nazi org’s were to take an interest in getting one of their folk “the most prestigious award in sci-fi” they could easily do so. However like most puppies (despite what the oleaginous and decrepit fen have been claiming for the last several years) I don’t know much about these types of peoples and the only books I know of which would be in their oeuvre (Mein Kamph and The Turner diaries) would not be eligible. I fully realize I will have to dive into some rather scummy waters in order to find what I need and to get into their mindset well enough to craft a pitch that has even a snowballs chance in hell of being effective, and I accept that. But any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

To be honest I have never seen an actual White supremacist, either in person or on the internet.

Neither have I and I grew up in the south. Which may well explain why I’ve never met a white supremacist in person.
as to online, I’ve heard of “stormfront” which is supposed to be some sort of white supremacist forum, which is why I’ve never been there before. I’ve just been doing some very cursory research and it seems the Aryan Brotherhood claims about 10,000 members but as they are primarily a prison gang I doubt this would appeal to them. At the moment i’m still at the stage of wiki-ing things in order to figure out where to search. Maybe I’m just a bit cruel but the idea of of the MC in Finland having to give a Hugo to a sci-fi tale about a utopia built upon a mountain of non-white, non-straight bodies, presented as an unqualified good, and the the effect that would have on the awards “reputation” (and those of its biggest supporters) makes me giggle like a little girl.
Like I said I know Ill feel the need to wash compulsively for the next few months, but I’m a redneck and getting dirty to get a job done never did bother me much.

To add to what Misha said, a lot of folks who are labelled white supremacists are actually ethnic nationalists. Ironically, a lot of the arguments they make are the same used by those who are opponents of colonialism.
If you’re looking for oddball things to get folks to rally behind, Varg Vikernes just put out a new book a few months back, Reflections on European Mythology and Polytheism. I haven’t gotten around to checking it out yet, but his Sorcery and Religion in Ancient Scandinavia was pretty fascinating, particularly his theories on Ragnarok and the Voluspa as a set of instructions on how to perform the grave-goods/naming/manhood ceremony in preparation for the annual winter ceremonies.
On the other hand, I don’t think that I’d want to see Varg dragged into this silly piss fight, as, despite what you may have read about him, he’s a pretty nice guy who’d just like to be left alone with his family and his music.

Oh, nevermind; it came out in the last week of December, so wouldn’t be eligible anyway.

That’s the thing Cirsova I’m not. I’m intentionally looking to bring in groups who would destroy what little remains of the Hugo’s credibility.Best case end game worldcon disbands permanently. Though I’d accept the awards becoming so tainted that no writer, no matter how desperate for validation would even be willing to accept nomination.
However both of the books you mentioned sound interesting enough to read in their own right that I will check them out so thank you very much for the recco’s.

I hate the Hugo-istas as much as anyone, but this is not cool. Not at all.
Never give the enemy ammunition.

Guess we’re just gonna have to agree to disagree Greg. Personally I think unleashing exactly the kind of people they claimed we are on them is poetic justice.

Even knowing up front pretty much how they’ll respond? Aside from the idea that we should try to hold ourselves to a higher standard. and actually BE better than they are, it just gives them more fodder for quote mining.
I absolutely can hear the frustration behind the idea. I’ll even admit the darker side of my psyche is sympathetic. However, it hurts your moral credibility, and it’s an unsound move tactically.
YMMV (and obviously does).

Exactly the way they responded before. Only more?

There’s another area where we disagree.
You don’t rope a calf by caring what it’ll say when it’s in the slaughterhouse. You use a lariat.
I am not “better” than they. I am not more “moral” than they. And that doesn’t bother me one jot or one tittle.

I think it depends very much on what your objective is: to win the argument by persuading outside parties and/or the other side of the correctness of your claim (in which case, it is very important to maintain moral superiority) or if it’s just to inflict strife and general bad things on the opposition.
If your objective is the later (and it seems to be so in my opinion), then your stand makes more sense. Like I said above, I can even understand it on a very primal level.
I think we can agree that the fact we can agree to disagree puts us one step up (at least) from the “hivemind” (as you called in in your “F*** you!” article.
